Bank Of Heaven, True Riches
May 20, 2022
Devotions:
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21 KJV
Jesus is talking about a heavenly bank account. The kingdom of God operates on the sowing and reaping principle. As we give to the kingdom, with a thankful, faith filled heart, God is able to multiply our seed that we sow back to us so that we will have more to sow. As we sow the seed we put into circulation for the kingdom and Satan cannot steal it from us. We are sowing into our future needs by sowing what we have now. Our sowing must be at the leading of the Lord. So we make deposits in the bank of heaven. This does not mean that we will never see the return until we get to heaven. No as we need we call on it and God is then able to supply from the seed that we have sown. It takes faith to sow and faith to reap. Our focus is on advancing the kingdom, not on accumulating wealth here. As we seek first His kingdom, His blessings will come and overtake us.
The other meaning here is that the true riches in heaven are the souls in heaven that we have reached or helped to reach through the finances that we have sowed. The streets in heaven are paved with pure gold. What the world thinks as wealth is street pavement. True riches are the people that we have been instrumental in bringing to salvation in Jesus. So if our focus is on populating heaven then that is where our heart is. This is the heart beat of God.
