Mercy

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” ‭Matthew‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭KJV‬

First the is the law of sowing and reaping. As you sow mercy you will reap mercy, but not everyone will  show you mercy, but as you continue to show mercy.  If you understand the mercy you have been shown by God then it will reflect that in the mercy you show to other. When you do not show mercy then you have not really understood the great mercy that God has shown to you and continues to show to you.

In Matthew 18:31-35 Jesus tells the parable of the servant who owed and enormous amount to his master. He begged the master for mercy and was forgiven his debt. He then found a fellow servant who owed him a small amount and demanded payment. When the fellow servant asked for mercy, more time to pay, the first servant threw his fellow servant and his family into debtors prison until payment could be made. When the master heard about this he called the first servant back in and threw him into debtors prison because though he had received mercy, he had refused to show mercy thus not taking his master’s action of showing mercy.

“Talk and act like a person expecting to be judged by the Rule that sets us free. For if you refuse to act kindly, you can hardly expect to be treated kindly. Kind mercy wins over harsh judgment every time.” ‭James‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God is love and mercy is a part of that love. We are to be like God because we have been born of Him and His mercy. We did it deserve salvation but God in His mercy showed us full salvation in Jesus Christ.
