Authority

Devotions:

“and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.” ‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:19-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The last part of Paul’s prayer he talks about the authority and power that Christ won in His resurrection. Jesus defeated all of the ranks of the evil one and put Satan and all of his host beneath Jesus’ feet. This was not for Jesus’ benefit but for our benefit. Then Paul goes on to say that, we, the church, are His body. So all of the works of Satan are beneath our feet. Paul further establishes this in Ephesians 2:6.

“and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” ‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus was given a name above every other name in this world and the world to come. We have full use of that name against the enemy. At the mention of that name, every knee must bow and every tongue confess the Lordship of Jesus. Many times we use the name of Jesus to lightly in prayer. His name is not a magic charm. As Peter and John testified it is faith in that name that brings results, Acts 4, not just repeating it, Acts 19.

As we have faith in the authority that Jesus won for us and faith in His name and use them we will walk in victory over every trial of the enemy.
