Fruit Bearing

Devotions :

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” ‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God’s desire is for us to bear fruit. Bearing fruit does not come from our efforts or our natural ability. Bearing fruit is easy. As we abide in Christ and His word abides in us, we will easily bear fruit as a vine bears grapes. We must be properly watered, by spending time fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit and feeding on the word of God. Abiding in Christ is to be mindful of His indwelling presence within us.

This must be a life and death matter. We must know that we are dead in Christ. We have been crucified with Christ. Galatians 2:20. We must know that we are dead to our own ability to do God’s will, to love our brother as ourselves, but it does not end there. We are dead to ourselves, BUT we are also alive in Christ. We look to His life within us. We rely on His life within us, as the vine relies on the sap from the root to produce fruit.
