Sin Is Serious

We must realize how devastating sin is and how dangerous it is. Sin will kill you. God wants to save you and deliver you from that which destroys you. Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree. That is He took the full brunt of the Father’s judgement against sin. God is against sin because He is love and love wants to bless but sin wants to destroy and dishonor, embarrass and humiliate. Jesus is saying that sin is drastic so much so that we need to remove the offending part. The way we can do that is to know the deliverance of Jesus. He came to set us free and as we meditate on His word we will walk in that freedom. We are dead to sin through the body of Christ but we will not walk in that until we believe it.

We will cut off our hand if the doctor says that it is cancerous and if it is not removed it will kill us. Sin is a cancer that if not removed will kill us. In this illustration Jesus is also saying that to remove our flesh is painful. To deny our flesh and not allow it to sin is painful. We not only have forgiveness through our Lord Jesus Christ but we also have deliverance from sin. Sin is serious.

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
