Holiness

Devotions:

God has called us to holiness and He has provided the holiness that He has called us to.  Our own holiness that we implement by our flesh is impure and incomplete.  We need to rely on His holiness within us by the Spirit of Christ within us.  He is holy. He is God.  Hebrews 12 says that we are to lay aside every weigh and sin that so easily besets us and to look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.  We lay these aside by believing the word of God about our redemption.  The weight is our efforts to walk in godliness without the power of God's indwelling presence.  it is our fasting, praying, doing good works and reading the word to try to be pleasing to God, to try to be holy.  We are holy in Christ Jesus.

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who has been made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and holiness, and redemption; that according as it is written, He that boasts, let him boast in the Lord.” ‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:30-31‬ ‭DARBY‬‬

Earlier in 1 Corinthians 1 Paul says that no flesh will boast in His presence. All of our boasting is in what God has done in us and will do through us.  Since the provision and power are present to deliver us from sin, how then should we walk?

“Yet the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, The Lord knows those that are his; and, Let every one who names the name of the Lord withdraw from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also wooden and earthen; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If therefore one shall have purified himself from these, in separating himself from them, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified, serviceable to the Master, prepared for every good work.”  ‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:19-21‬ ‭DARBY‬‬

Remember our victory is not is our trying to do it in our flesh but by believing His word.
