Devotions:
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” John 7:37-39 KJV
Jesus here is talking about the baptism in the Holy Spirit which came on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2:4. We know that one way those rivers are manifest are though our devotional prayer language, i.e. praying in unknown tongues. Jesus said that rivers would flow but many times after we are filled with the Spirit and speak in tongues initially that from the on we only have a trickle flowing. This is because we do not take time to use the tongues daily in times of prayer but also as we go about our daily routines. We should know that tongues is an invaluable gift for those who will practice it daily and not let it lay dormant.
Other places that the scriptures speak of rivers, in Ezekiel and Revelations we find the rivers flowing from the throne of God. Tongues are spoken as the Spirit gives the utterance. We also find that the banks of the rivers are trees that bear fruit in their season and their leaves are for healing. As we give ourselves to developing the river within us by spending time daily praying in tongues, that we will bear fruit without any effort and we will be used by God to bring healing. The anointing will develope within us to destroy yolks and lift burdens. This will manifest the glory of God and demonstrate the defeat of the enemy in your life and in the life of those around you. Tongues is an extremely valuable gift give to us to do the work of the ministry. Make it a priority in your life to use it regularly.
