Divine Purpose

Devotions:
Our time on the earth is so short. We need to live this life with our eyes on eternity. Everything that we do has eternal consequences whether for good of evil. The evil for the Christian is the lost opportunity to walk in God's blessings. Everything that we do then we should question ourselves, How does this fit with eternity. God wants us to walking His blessings but He does not want us to make His blessings an idol in our lives that we pursue. As we pursue God and His purpose in our lives, He will add the blessings to us.
Jesus came only to do the will of the Father, not His own will. He is our example. Jesus' necessary food was to do the will of the Father, John 4. That is He put obedience even above necessary food. We see this in the temptations of Jesus when He had fasted for 40 days and was tempted by the devil. This then is the devil's strategy, to get us to put temporal things above eternal things, to put pleasure above obedience to God.
Our greatest blessings come as we live sold out to God. In Revelations 12 it says that the believers lived a martyr life, "they loved not their lives unto death." In losing their lives they found their lives and true joy and blessing.
We all have a job to do here on the earth that our Father God has assigned to us and that is unique to only us. As we pursue that assignment with all of our hearts we will then fulfill God's purpose for us by His grace.
