The Cross

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.” Galatians 6:14-15 KJV
Why Paul's fascination with the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ? Because by that cross Paul died as does every person who receives that Jesus died for our sin, was buried and rose again on the third day. When we receive what Jesus did, the Holy Spirit acts on our spirit and kills us, that is the old us who was corrupted by sin and replaces us with a new species of being. A righteous being who carries the unblemished image of the Father. Jesus gives us His righteousness by taking our unrighteous nature upon Himself and paying the full penalty before the Father. Religion does not matter, what matters is being recreated a new creation by the life of Jesus entering into us. When you receive the work of Jesus on the cross, He makes you a new creature, you are no longer a sinner. As a new creation we have the life and nature of God in us and we then learn to walk by that life. We learn to listen to our spirit because that is where the Holy Spirit resides. Our behavior then flows out of our spirit. When we yield to our flesh, then we look just like the world. But the greater one is with in us to overcome the wiles of the flesh. Christian life is learning to walk by the Spirit of Christ within us not following a bunch of rules and regulations. It is not about a bunch of do's and don'ts but walking by the power of the new life.
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” Colossians 1:27 KJV
